Soil Fertility Research Laboratory named after Prof. Ivane Sarishvili



➤ Soil research in a scientific direction;
➤ Examination of soils and their fertility throughout the country with the help of modern techniques and equipment;

Laboratory of Certified Seeds and Planting Standards and Certification



➤ Laboratory analysis of quality indicators of seed material and planting material of field cultures;
➤ In accordance with the requirements and norms of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) - analytical sampling, analytical purity, germination ability, grain weight determination;
➤ Determination of moisture and viability analysis;
➤ Qualitative analysis of seed potatoes.


Laboratory of Plant Microclonal (IN VITRO) Propagation and Virus-Free Planting Material Research Division



➤ Development and refinement of effective technologies for obtaining virus-free microclones of agricultural crops (potatoes, vines, fruit and berry crops) by tissue culture (in vitro) methods;
➤ Creation/conservation of the in vitro genetic bank of the local gene pool;
➤ Adoption of the elite seed and basic planting material.

Molecular Marking laboratory (DNA laboratory)



➤ Identification and creation of a database of rare and rare varieties of Georgian grapevine, study of Caucasian wild grapevine and research of its relationship with the cultivated grapevine gene pool. Research of varieties of endemic fruit crops using modern methods of molecular genetics;
➤ Study of genetic diversity of Georgian endemic annual crops (wheat and their predecessors, technical and grain crops) through molecular markers.


Village Tsilkani, Mulberry silkworm breeding laboratory


➤ Preservation of the hereditary characteristics characteristic of varieties of living gene pool of mulberry silkworm;
➤ 20 collections of mulberry silkworms were updated with foreign breed blood;
➤ Breeding of new high-yielding, disease-resistant varieties (hybrids) and production of hybrid grain;
➤ Improvement of biotechnological indicators of varieties using selection methods;
➤ Early prediction of diseases.
